INSERTER HISTORY

In 1926 a man named Albert Williams spent 10 years in his garage inventing the automatic envelope stuffing machine. He created a company called IMMCO and moved to Phillipsburg, NJ and during World War II "Phillipsburgs" Inserted over 1.5 billion "V" letters. Many of these inserters helped create the birth of direct mail. In 1957 Bell & Howell purchased IMMCO and today this brand of machine dominates the mailing industry.

Probably the most sought after inserter in the sixties is the conjugate cam box machine, the first model known as A-340 or A-347 (Shuttle Feed) This style inserter eliminated the ratchet and pawl drive of the 7,200 cycle per hour Inserters. This improved model eliminated the "bang and clack" of the intermittent drive section. Today the modern inserter is essentially the same machine of sixties. Except that today most Modern machines are software and electronic dependent.

The true beauty in a swing arm inserter is how close to perfect this machine truly is. Easy to operate, very fast set up for jobs any size (6x9 or 9x12 Mastermailer owners). Designed for economical maintenance and operation well into the 21st century.
